When Geoffrey Lancaster was a 20 year old music student, he stumbled upon a large collection of harpsichords and fortepianos in a Sydney antique store.
The instruments became the passion of his life, and saw him become an internationally regarded pianist and conductor.
He travelled the world performing and teaching before returning to Australia.
Geoffrey eventually became the custodian of the the small, square fortepiano which arrived on the First Fleet with the surgeon, George Worgan.
For a time the piano was owned by Elizabeth MacArthur, then its whereabouts were unknown for almost a century before it was rediscovered.
